An Eye Towards Fall

The weather has been strange this summer, and it is hard to believe that we are well into August. It is that time of year again, when we start getting a good look at the new fall fashions. Here are some things on our wish list this year:

Jill's Top 5 For Fall

5. Pumpkins, pumpkin muffins, pumpkin bread, roasted pumpkin soup... I love pumpkins and all foods made with pumpkin!

4. Scarves: I have about a dozen scarves, and am always looking to add to my collection. In my neck of the woods, things get cold earlier and stay cold later than many other parts of California. I find I can get away with not wearing a coat in the mornings as long as I have a cute scarf around my neck!

3. A polished look: I don’t know what it is about fall that seems to bring a classic, polished look back into style. Something about the fall makes us want to “button up” our style. Flowy dresses are replaced with pencil skirts, sandals with heels, and lip gloss makes way for a matte berry lip.

2. Rain: I love, love, love the rain. There is nothing better to me than curling up with a good book while rain is pounding on the roof.

1. Christmas Shopping: I try to get my Christmas shopping finished early. I get a sense of accomplishment from crossing all the names off my list before most people have made plans for Thanksgiving. It is a personal thing, but I hate fighting the crowds around the holidays. Christmas is much more enjoyable for me when I don’t have to worry about last-minute shopping!

Happy Fall!

Fabulous Fall Recipes

We've often talked about how much we love the interiors on Canadian House & Home online. In addition to beautiful places, though, Canadian House & Home also has DIY ideas and scrumptious recipes, such as the Apple-Stuffed Pork Rib Roast shown above. If you're feeling like you need a new influx of fall recipes, we highly recommend that you check out Canadian House & Home's fall recipes. Bon appetit!

Kari's Top 5 For Fall...

Fall rocks. It's a most fantastic, most festive time of year, don't you think? Here are Kari's top 5 things she's loving about this autumn...

#5: Fall is the best time to shop because the clothes are the cutest!

#4: Pilates. Loving my three-times-a-week pilates routine. Just missed a whole week of it, and boy, do I miss it. Someday, maybe I'll look like her...

#3: Hot drinks: tea, lattes, mochas. Too many of the last two will undo all the Pilates work, though, but any hot drink makes things feel cozier this time of year!

#2: Loving being back in the swing of things with Bible Study Fellowship. Already learning so much from the study of Isaiah.

#1: Holding my hubby's hand during cool, autumn walks outside. :) (Also am starting to really enjoy rooting for his team, the Oklahoma State Cowboys. I'm coming around...college football isn't so bad after all!)
Hope your fall is off to a great start. What would your top 5 reasons to love fall be?
